Red mood Goma: Civil society calls for the quartering of soldiers
The civil society Forces vives, urban coordination of Goma, advocates for the quartering of all soldiers who are not at the front. This plea is a consequence of the numerous cases of insecurity, involving soldiers wandering in the city.
The latest case, recalls the civic structure, is that which occurred on Monday August 26 in the Majengo district, in the commune of Karisimbi, where a man in military uniform fired shots, injuring innocent people in the process, after an attempted robbery.
“For many months, those who sow desolation, insecurity, killings, day and night, are sometimes military elements. And the case today is a soldier who stole money from a money changer and shot two people, one of whom died and the other was admitted to the hospital ,” deplored the president of the civil society-city of Goma, Marion Ngavo.
According to him, “whenever these soldiers are not sent to the front, they should be brought back to the barracks. They should not move around with weapons and ammunition in the city of Goma, because it is becoming very dangerous.”
He also recommends that the local population remain very vigilant and report cases of wandering soldiers to the military authorities.
