In the next 5 years Rwanda will generate over 1,300 billion Frws from tourism revenue
In the next 5-year term, from 2024 to 2029, Rwanda will increase tourism revenue to 1.1 billion USD (2029), equivalent to over 1,300 billion Rwandan Francs, up from 495 million USD (2024).
This is part of the policy program of the RPF-Inkotanyi. A technological system will be established to help protect and monetize artistic creations as intellectual property.
The annual revenue from mining will rise to $1.8 billion (2029), up from $1.1 billion (2023).
There will be expedited implementation of projects that protect the environment in urban areas and those that address flooding in disaster-prone regions.
Weather forecasting services will continue to be improved to ensure timely access to weather information for citizens and other sectors.
Technology
Fast and efficient communication services will reach 100% coverage, with continued expansion of technological and communication infrastructure and improvement of related services.
Efforts will continue to increase the digital literacy of all Rwandans, promoting the use of artificial intelligence-based technology.
Financial Services and Investment
Various programs will continue to position Rwanda as a hub for investment and finance.
Programs encouraging Rwandans to save, plan for their future, and access loans, especially targeting youth and women, will be sustained.
Effective mechanisms will be put in place to facilitate access to funds used for environmental conservation and climate change mitigation.
Job Creation
It is anticipated that 250,000 new jobs will be created annually. Efforts will continue to build capacity to compete in the job market, focusing on practical skills, science, technology, and the arts.
In the transportation sector, 1,091 kilometers of paved roads and 1,626 kilometers of feeder roads will be constructed or rehabilitated.
Public transport services for people and goods in both urban and rural areas will continue to be improved.
Three ports will be constructed on Lake Kivu: in Rusizi, Karongi, and Rutsiro.
The construction of the Bugesera International Airport will be completed.
A model school for training in aviation and airport management will be established.
The number of passengers using RwandAir will double, and cargo transportation will be optimized.
Agriculture and Livestock
Over the next 5 years, agricultural and livestock production will increase by 8% annually.
Farmers will be facilitated to access sufficient and timely agricultural inputs.
Support will be provided to enable farmers and livestock keepers to access affordable loans and establish consistent methods for storage and processing of their produce.
Industrial production will increase by 13% annually.
New industries will be established, including those for pharmaceuticals and vaccines, construction materials, processing and value addition for agricultural and livestock products, textiles, mineral processing, and others.
Electricity, Water, and Sanitation
Efforts to provide access to clean water and electricity to 100% of the population will continue.
Environmentally friendly methods of lighting and cooking will be promoted.
Sanitation infrastructure, including landfills and wastewater treatment plants, will be developed in Kigali City and other urban areas.
Regarding housing, land-use master plans for all districts will be completed and implemented.
Housing will be improved by building basic infrastructure and relocating households from informal settlements and other precarious living conditions.
Affordable housing units will be constructed to facilitate access to accommodation for Rwandans in urban areas.
