Safi Madiba opens up about parting ways with Urban Boys and his Solo Music Career

Renowned artist Safi Niyibikora, better known as Safi Madiba, has boldly spoken out about his departure from Urban Boys, attributing it to conflicting visions within the group.

He stated that this clash of dreams forced him to make the pivotal decision to pursue his path as a solo artist.

Currently based in Vancouver, Canada, Safi Madiba has been making waves with performances across the globe, including the United States and France. He is now gearing up for a highly anticipated concert in Rwanda.

Reflecting on Urban Boys’ legacy, Safi acknowledged the group’s profound impact on his musical journey. He credited the band as the launchpad for his career, where they produced chart-topping hits and celebrated major milestones, including winning prestigious competitions like the Primus Guma Guma Super Stars.

Safi also recounted his humble beginnings before joining Urban Boys, revealing that he had struggled to secure jobs in stores like Simba Supermarket and Nakumatt but was met with little success.

Once he joined the group, he and his bandmates worked tirelessly to create exceptional music, but eventually, their diverging aspirations led to an inevitable split.

“When you work as a group, you combine your strengths, but there comes a time when each person develops their own dreams. At that point, we had to part ways so each of us could pursue what we truly desired,” Safi Madiba explained.

Urban Boys, once a dynamic trio comprising Safi Madiba, Nizzo, and Humble Jizzo, has since dissolved, with each member carving out their own path.

Nizzo remains in Rwanda, while Humble Jizzo now resides in Kenya with his family.
